Overview

‘Project Gabbro’ was an isometric ARPG (action roleplaying game) project in Unreal Engine 5. It was set to be a co-operative, accessible ARPG featuring a wide cast of characters from a large IP. It featured semi-randomized ‘dungeon runs’, a central hub where Players could upgrade their hero, all with fun, accessible action combat.

My role was to lead the encounters team in building out a high level vision for encounters and to design enemies and their abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Led a multi-disciplinary team developing encounters, enemy design, & AI

  • Worked with other strike teams to ensure that the core gameplay & encounters were in sync and working together

  • Iterated on encounters, behaviour trees, & Blueprints for encounters and enemies

  • Began to build out a high level design for what encounters should be on Gabbro
